Naturally Recycled Proteins (NRP), a protein ingredients supplier to the pet food industry, announced that it will be investing nearly US$10 million in Montpelier, Indiana, USA. The company will add approximately 24,000 square feet (2,230 square meters) to its existing facility and create 6 new jobs.
“Since our initial investment here in 2011, we have been thrilled with the success of our Montpelier operation,” said Al Koch, chief executive officer of NRP, in a press release.
NRP produces protein additives for various pet foods found on retail shelves around the world. In 2011, NRP selected Blackford County as the location for its third manufacturing facility. The company currently occupies a 48,000 square-foot building and employs nearly 50 workers in Montpelier. NRP also operates similar facilities in Iowa and Nebraska.
Montpelier approved tax abatements for NRP to support the investment.
“NRP is critically important to our City and an excellent corporate citizen,” said Mayor Kathy Bantz, in a press release.
About Naturally Recycled Proteins
Naturally Recycled Proteins was formed in 2003 to naturally processed protein additives to pet food manufacturers. The company implements a non-rendered, patented, natural enzymatic system to process various proteins into a value added ingredient for a number of pet food companies. The key ingredient is utilized as a chicken and egg flavor additive into final pet food product formulations found in retailers nationwide.
NRP's Indiana facility specializes in the processing of spent hens into a highly digestible dry protein additive used in the pet food industry. This 42,000 square foot facility was completed in 2012 and houses three different processing areas. The plant also includes an attached office complex and a truck maintenance building.
