Petfood market grows strongly in Mexico

Aug 25, 2024
The Mexican pet food market is likely to continue to grow strongly in the coming years. This is according to several reports from various market research institutes.

However, the size of the market varies. The trade journal Pet Industry reports a sales volume of 7.7 bn dollars (2023), citing the Mexican consulting firm Amexfal. The market research company Statista puts the sales volume of the Mexican pet food market much lower, at 2.6 bn dollars for 2024. Mordor Intelligence, another market research company, puts the sales volume at 3.29 bn dollars for this year.

However, all three sources agree that the Mexican pet food market will grow strongly in the coming years. Amexfal emphasises that 50 per cent of the pets are concentrated in states with large cities such as Guadalajara, Puebla, Monterrey and Mexico City. In these federative entities, 54.4 per cent of the national GDP in 2022 is obtained, associated with a higher purchasing power.
