The South Asian country exported dog and cat food to 25 countries in the last 9 months.
Nepal reportedly exported pet food worth INR 2.26 billion ($17.3M/€15.7M) from July 2022 to April 2023.
The data from the Department of Customs (DoC) reported by local media shows an increase of more than INR 300 million ($2.2M/€2.09M) compared to the same period in 2022.
The South Asian country exported pet food, mainly dog and cat products, to 25 countries.
Most of the exports were sent to the US, reaching a value of INR 1.95 billion ($14.9M/€13.6M). In the same period of the previous year, the exports to that country accounted for INR 1.63 billion ($12.4M/€11.3M).
The DoC said that Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Singapore were among the main purchasers of Nepalese pet food.
