The Czech Vafo Group, which also owns Allco Heimtierbedarf, has acquired Carry Petfood. The latter is a leading manufacturer of dog chews based in Trzebielino in northern Poland. It primarily markets private label products to pet product companies throughout Europe. Established in 1992 under the name Weidaer Hundekauartikel, Carry Petfood originated in Thüringen but moved to an ultra-modern plant in Poland in 2013. The company was renamed Carry Petfood back in 2009.
"This acquisition brings us a step closer to our goal of manufacturing a complete range of treats on our own premises," Pavel Bouška is pleased to announce. He is the board chairman of the Vafo Group, which operates eight production plants for dry and moist food for dogs and cats. The group is one of the fastest-growing pet food manufacturers in Europe, with sales expected to reach 260 mio euros by the end of 2020. "We welcome this development, because the expansion of the product portfolio in the group gives rise to new and exciting opportunities," adds Jörg Lefers, managing director of Allco Heimtierbedarf.
Chew products are often manufactured abroad and imported. Pavel Bouška's aim is to have chew products manufactured in Europe in future that are of higher quality than imported treats and produced in a more environmentally friendly way.
Robert Tchorzko, CEO of Carry Petfood, is expected to assume an important role in collaboration with Vafo. His company will be able to increase the production capacity in its Polish plant.
