Petland leads the way

The US-based pet retailer Petland was ranked by Entrepreneur magazine in the top 20 per cent of 200 brands available for franchise opportunities worldwide. Petland continues to grow, ranking 38th in 2024.

With more than 300 stores in eight countries, Petland has remained true to its mission as a franchisor since its founding in 1967. According to Entrepreneur magazine, it used its Franchise 500 formula to create the ranking, adjusting it to give extra weight to international size and growth. Other areas evaluated in the formula include costs and fees, franchisee support, brand strength and financial strength and stability. Only companies that were seeking new franchisees outside of the United States and had at least five units open internationally as of July 2023 were considered.

Outside the United States, Petland franchisees are located in Canada, China, Brazil, El Salvador, Mexico, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.
