Kika Group has announced the start of construction of its new wet pet food production plant near Kaunas in Lithuania. The strategic investment of 20.5 mio euros is aimed at expanding the group's product portfolio and strengthening its position in global markets, the manufacturer said.
The 7 200 m2 facility will primarily produce wet pet food on two production lines. Kika Group plans to add 52 new products to its portfolio. The Akvatera W, as the modern production-facility is called, will not only operate according to energy efficiency standards (A++), but will also increase production capacity to up to 11000 tons per year in two phases. This would meet local demand in Lithuania and Estonia as well as increased exports to Europe, Asia and the USA.
Kika Group owns the Akvatera LT dry food plant and Tauro Kennel breeding facilities, and operates a network of 128 Kika brand stores in Lithuania and Estonia. The group's consolidated sales increased by 10 per cent to 71.7 mio euros in 2023, with exports accounting for 43.5 per cent of total sales.
The Kika Group exports to 65 countries, with Europe being the main market, including the Czech Republic, Finland, Poland, Ukraine and Italy. The company says it is also experiencing growth in Asian markets such as Malaysia, South Korea, Indonesia and Taiwan.
