The French pet supplies company Zolux continues to expand in the European market. After opening its subsidiary Zolux Iberia at the start of the year and purchasing a brownfield site in its home town of Saintes, the group has now acquired the Czech firm Cat-Gato with a 15 000 m² production plant in Lutin, close to Olomouc.
The takeover means that the Zolux Group acquires the business of the traditional Czech supplier along with its machinery and equipment, tangible and intangible assets, brands, models and inventory stocks. The entire workforce, currently comprising 72 people, will also be transferred to the new owner.
“With three subsidiaries now in Poland, Italy and Spain/Portugal, plus sales networks in 50 countries, we have moved a step closer to our target of ‘Made in Europe’ with the acquisition of Cat-Gato,” says the company. Zolux, which already obtains 71 per cent of its supplies from Europe, aims to increase this proportion significantly to reduce its ecological footprint as far as possible.
