Italy: pet product prices remain high

Feb 12, 2023
The price of dog and cat food in Italy has increased by 19 per cent on average in the last twelve months. This was reported by trade magazine PetB2B with reference to the Italian price comparison portal Trovaprezzi.

According to Trovaprezzi’s analysis, the highest price rise was recorded in September at 29.59 per cent in a year-on-year comparison. The average inflation rate has remained high since then and is currently running at 24.13 per cent.

Prices for dog and cat accessories have risen in the last year by an average of 7.77 per cent. From September last year to January 2023, however, the inflation rate has increased to 27.07 per cent. The highest level was reached at 58.84 per cent. “It was recently announced that energy supply costs were falling,” PetB2B was told by Marco Sidonio, SEO manager at Trovaprezzi. “Things are expected to improve in the next few months, which will hopefully also have a positive impact on inflation.”
