Das Futterhaus grows by 15.2 per cent

With sales growth of 15.2 per cent, the German pet store chain Das Futterhaus once again significantly outpaced the growth of the pet supplies sector nationally in 2021. According to data from the IVH and ZZF, the sector's growth in high street speciality retail and supermarkets was approx. four per cent.
 
The overall financial results of Das Futterhaus for 2021 showed sales totalling 521 mio euros (2020: 452 mio euros). Its German stores grew sales by 15.4 per cent compared with the previous year to 469 mio euros (2020: 406.5 mio euros), while the sales of the stores in Austria increased by 13.4 per cent to 52 mio euros (2020: 45.9 mio euros). 21 new stores in all were opened in the last twelve months, bringing the total number of stores currently operated by the franchise company in Germany and Austria to 406.
 
Das Futterhaus aims to expand its store network to 550 branches in the next few years. The company sees potential in the long term for expansion to 750 stores in the two countries with its existing and new franchise partners.
