Chewy, the leading American online retailer of pet products, increased its net sales on a 52-week to 52-week basis by 40 per cent to 4.85 bn dollars in fiscal 2019, which ended on 2 February. CEO Sumit Singh points out that his company had completed the fiscal year with strong fourth-quarter results. Chewy's adjusted EBITDA (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortisation) was 5.8 mio dollars in 2019, an improvement of 65 per cent year-on-year. With regard to the coronavirus crisis, Sumit Singh said that his company "will be here, 24/7, caring for the safety and well-being of our team members and meeting the increased shop-at-home needs of our customers".
