Aller Petfood gains FSSC 22000 certification

Jun 20, 2018
Aller Petfood was the first pet food company in Europe to gain ISO 22000 certification in 2007. Now the company has announced that it has upgraded to FSSC 22000 certification.

The background to this is that ISO 22000 was originally developed for human food production, and parts of it were not relevant to the pet food trade. The new FSSC is a modification of ISO 22000 that takes account of the pet food trade among other things. Elements such as unannounced visits by auditors were also incorporated into FSSC 22000.
