Zooplus AG's sales grew by 22 per cent in 2017 to more than 1.1 bn euros. The fourth quarter was the most successful quarter, according to the company, with growth of 25 per cent compared with the same period in 2016. At 38 per cent, the number of new customers that registered in the fourth quarter also increased compared with the same period in the previous year. At the same time, Zooplus highlighted the high levels of loyalty among existing customers.
The online retailer reported an increase in sales of food of 24 per cent over the previous year, pushing the segment's share of overall sales up by another percentage point to 83 per cent.
Executive board chairman Dr Cornelius Patt said that the aim for 2018 was to consolidate the company's position as European market leader in online pet supplies retailing. He added that Zooplus would focus on growth and the long-term development of the company, with targeted investment in the product offering, logistics and IT.
