Dogman has today agreed on terms for the acquisition of Midtun Zoo Åsane and Midtun Zoo Nestun, two of Norway’s largest pet stores, both located in Bergen.
Dogman open its first branded retail outlet in Østerås on the outskirts of Oslo on 17 August and, through this acquisition, now has the opportunity to swiftly implement the company’s new store concept in an additional location in Norway.
“We are convinced that our own Dogman stores will create valuable synergies for the Friends for Life franchise arrangement that we have offered our customers for the past two years. We hope that more independent pet shops will realise the opportunities we are able to create for them,” says Pierre Olofsson, CEO of Dogman.
Through the Friends for Life franchise concept, Dogman offers its professional customers a visually appealing store concept, system support along with structural and business expertise that, in the final analysis, benefits both profit and stock turnover. “Our mission is to make it easier for independent traders to run their pet stores and I am convinced that we are better equipped to succeed in this with our own stores,” explains Pierre Olofsson.
The acquisition also provides Dogman with access to a new supplier base that will allow the company to expand its product portfolio and offer its customers a wider range.
Between them, the two companies acquired have an annual turnover of 50 million Norwegian Krone ($6.3 million - €5.4 million). The companies will be consolidated in Dogman from 1 September 2017 and will be subsidiaries of Dogman AS.
