The world-leading Interzoo fair drew to a close in Nuremberg on Sunday. Although the number of exhibitors grew by three per cent compared with 2010, visitor attendance fell slightly short of the previous event. According to the fair organiser, the Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft Zoologischer Fachbetriebe (WZF), around 37 000 visitors from 115 countries came to Nuremberg for this year's edition of the show, as compared with over 38 000 visitors from 117 countries in 2010. The growth in the number of exhibitors prompted an increase in the exhibition area, however. This time the WZF welcomed 1539 companies from 53 countries exhibiting on a gross exhibition area of over 100 000 m². In 2010, 1 502 companies from 53 countries displayed their products and services on a gross exhibition area of over 90 000 m². 79 per cent of the exhibitors at Interzoo 2012 were from abroad, with the organiser recording an increase in European exhibitors of 7 per cent compared with 2010. 3 per cent more companies from the USA and 1 per cent more from Asia also came to the trade show.
